Read, Listen and Speak is a Chinese vocabulary builder and pronunciation coach. It is composed of three graded levels of vocabulary topics, going from the entry level with just 100 characters up to the top level with some 800 characters.

A key feature is that, at every stage of the learning process, pinyin can be switched on or off.

The user can test his/her vocabulary skills in two language directions, from English into Chinese or from Chinese into English. Test results can be printed off to monitor progress.

For pronunciation and tone mastery the user can select a Chinese character and listen to a Chinese voice speaking this character. The user then records his/her own pronunciation and can play it back. But, more than this - and this is the unique feature - the CD-ROM will assess the user's Chinese pronunciation and give a mark.

For long-term memory testing there is a Self-test Randomizer, where the user can choose three topics from which to be asked three randomly selected questions.
